PALAZZO MANZONI HISTORY
Palazzo Manzoni is a 1400 building. From 1400 to 1600 it was owned
by the "Monaci Classensi". From local information we know
that from 1600 to 1800 the property changed several times, until
1850 when the Counts "Manzoni di Milano", cousins of the
famous writer Alessandro Manzoni, bought it. In 1860 the Count Angelo
Manzoni started to organize the farm, which business until that
time was horse breeding, into a modern agricultural farm as we intend
today. After Unification of Italy in 1870, he starts to build many
colonial houses around this area, because ha wanted to civilize
the place. The "Conti Manzoni di Milano" mantained the
property of the house until 1988 when Countess Gabriella died without
heirs. In 1994 Mr. Massimo Bottura, the actual owner, bought and
used it as his own house until 1999, when he decided to start the
tourist activity in the house.
